Memories of Easter--Part I
Easter is when the day where our Savior was reincarnated by the Holy Spirit. Today’s momentous event is to celebrate His “Rebirth”--being a Resurrected Being. Many people, especially the Christians, usually celebrate every year this Easter through dancing, praying and other important rituals. This is the time also to open our souls and hearts to our Lord, Jesus Christ, for the good health and prosperity.
Christian followers are the experts in such a way that Easter is being celebrated. Focusing on His Rebirth, our Redeemer, it should be stringently observed in the month of April. We devote our time and efforts to celebrate and to pan out whatever activities to be initiated during Easter in order for us to recollect the significance of it to the devotees or religious people in general. It is one way of becoming closer to Him and makes ourselves devoted constantly and as dedicated children. We have to nurture the Easter activities by taking part actively and getting involved—just to experience and feel the true meaning of Easter.
Easter memories are really amazing and the memories which we can never be forgotten even in the ancient practices are deeply rooted in our hearts. Our God, The Almighty, saves us from our transgressions or inequities, and we have to find ways to blot out our sins. Resorting to being committed such a sin is inevitable, but if we are dedicated and so much devoted to Him, God loves us eternally despite our shortcomings and weaknesses. Unending love is scattered everywhere just to remember God and to make everyone eternal concerning spiritual activities and righteously follow what our Savior has redeemed for us.
Aside from Christmas celebration, Easter is also a special day because Jesus Christ is not born but He is really reborn. It is also the time when we sanctify ourselves with God for the eternal blessings. He has done so much to mankind—redeeming us from inequities. Due to our warm and heartfelt prayers, He always forgives us no matter what our sins are.
Every time when Easter is approaching, our family members pray hard so that we will be forgiven and also we pray for the blessings--everything what the Lord has done for us. Yet, Easter is not only the time when we do our prayers for God, but also to the days where God is present at all times.
Memories of Easter—Part II
Easter is really a great feast as practiced by the Catholic Church. In this Season of the Church Calendar, we celebrate as Christ rose from the dead. From the start, He saved us from sins and his father in heaven also saved Him from death.
Philippines has been so popular or well-known for being one of the largest Christian countries in Asia in celebrating Easter. This proves that Filipinos really love God and we are regarded by many people outside of the Philippines as religious people. We celebrate a lot of feast that is in celebration with the religious people and celebration from the church calendar.
With this, one of the greatest feasts here in Cebu that can’t be avoided is Easter. This is largely held in the local municipality. We call this event as the “Kabanhawan Festival.” This is only the municipality wherein the greatest feast is being held every year, particularly in the month of April.
With the lined-up events, first of this event is the Sugat. This is to be held on the dawn of Easter Sunday. It is mostly to be held at the church or the oval grounds of the local municipality. This place is very crowded with people from all walks of life who come and celebrate with the townsfolk. In the morning there will be games and egg hunting contests. In the afternoon there will be street dancing and ritual showdown. This is one of the greatest feasts that we celebrate in honor of our Lord, Jesus Christ, who has risen from the dead. And that is what Easter all about in the Municipality of Minglanilla where the Cebuanos celebrate yearly in honor of the Resurrected Being—The Almighty.

ReplyDeleteForgiving does not erase the bitter past. A healed memory is not a deleted memory. Instead, forgiving what we cannot forget creates a new way to remember. We change the memory of our past into a hope for our future.
ReplyDeleteIf we know how to forget and forgive the past it gives us a peace of mind in the present.

Easter season is the season to reflect all the fault that we have committed. But it is not just in Easter season but also in everyday life, in every single day that we commit sin.
ReplyDeleteKabanhawan Festival (Minglanilla Version) is always been an epic festival in every year from the Province of Cebu and in the whole Philippines because some T.V. stations from Manila, they always plugged our version of Kabanhawan Festival, and we Minglanillans always be proud of :)
