Fifteen guys who lost six games

why should one or fifteen guys who lost six games…

going into the finals be allowed to grab…

the University Athletic Association of the Philippine…

men’s championship trophy on  account of two wins against the team…

which has accumulated zero losses?

“this is so ridiculous”

a bad rule...

we learned that the so-called “Final Four” rule…

was adopted by the UAAP Board shortly after University of Santo Tomas…

won championship in 1993 without similar sweep.

under this rule…

the last top four teams are needed to face off in what is called a cross-over phase…

team one is to play team against team four, and team two is arrayed against team three…

the two teams that win in the final four are to face each other in the best-of-two finals…

the team that completes a 14-game-sweep automatically advances to the finals…

however, in the old rule, a team that sweeps the “double-round”…

 elimination is the outright champion…

the accommodation and leniency seem to be the order of the day…

 in the UAAP season…

the last time we checked, the game was about playing the rules…

there is a standing rule which prohibits the simultaneous fielding of two imports…

but a wise guy of UAAP, a commissioner ruled that since the double-entry…

did not affect the outcome of the game” and, the caper was permissible.
